A Step Toward Hope

InterAct’s crisis line provides support to over 9,000 people each year and is Wake County’s only provider of comprehensive domestic and sexual assault support services. We are committed to offering round-the-clock assistance and resources to the nearly 7,000 victims, survivors, and their families.

Each call to InterAct is a courageous step toward hope. Imagine Kelly, distressed by the knowledge that her partner invades her privacy daily by checking her cell phone. Or Matt, haunted by the memory of a past plea, asking his partner to “stop” hitting him. The narratives are diverse, but there is one constant – InterAct is ready to guide those who take this pivotal first step towards a life free from abuse, the step toward HOPE.

The need for InterAct’s services extends beyond statistics. The victims could be someone like Kelly or Matt. They are likely someone you know, a neighbor, a co-worker, or someone you talk with daily. Intimate partner violence exists in every community, affecting people we know or interact with regularly.

As the population continues to grow in Wake County, the need for our domestic and sexual violence services is rising. Please join us in supporting our community to be a safe space for everyone. Your help ensures InterAct is there for people like Matt or Kelly as they take their first step toward HOPE.

Additionally, InterAct’s Emergency Shelter Program serves as a “home away from home” for Wake County families who have experienced domestic violence and need emergency shelter.

InterAct offers economic empowerment and financial literacy programming as a key component of self-sufficiency for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Clients are also assisted in learning how to become financially stable and independent and may receive assistance with maintaining or establishing education, housing, or a job.

InterAct provides therapeutic services (individual and group) to assist with supporting the client to meet their individual needs in order to build confidence and empowerment to be on a path free from violence.

In addition to counseling, InterAct has a full-time presence in each of Wake County’s two domestic violence courtrooms. Victims of domestic violence can also electronically file for a domestic violence protective order at InterAct.

E-Court Filing

InterAct’s Court Services team helps victims/survivors navigate the criminal and civil process.  We assist by answering questions about the filing process of a 50B Domestic Violence Protection Order, commonly known as a “restraining order,” as well as a 50C Civil No-Contact Order for Stalking or Nonconsensual Sexual Conduct.  Advocates may be available for court accompaniment for both civil and criminal proceedings. InterAct court advocates CANNOT provide legal advice.
